Yesterday, the Smithfield Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi held it's Spring Informational Meeting for men interested in learning more about the fraternity and its local chapter. The "interest meeting" is typically the first step toward membership. It involves a presentation where the brothers talk about the organization's history, current programs and initiatives, and answer questions from guests. Yesterday's meeting was no different.
Smithfield Alumni welcomed four men to the conference room at Johnston Community College, where the chapter assembles for its monthly meetings.
Michael Render, who serves as the chapter's Intake Chairman, opened the meeting around 1:30 pm. Brothers had an opportunity, prior to the session, to mingle and acquaint themselves with our guests.
For the remainder of the program, Brother Render led us through Kappa's history, its founder's, and the chapter's achievements. He promoted dialog between the thirteen chapter members in attendance and the men interested in learning more. Some of the questions asked included inquiries on the chapter's goals and etiquette between members.
Near the end of the meeting, Michael informed the attendees that if they were interested in moving forward that they should send him an email expressing their interest. In turn, he would then provide the application and necessary instructions.
All in all, the meeting was a good one. The brothers appeared impressed by the quality of men seeking membership. In turn, the four men in attendance communicated their initial impressions as "extremely enlightened."
Moving forward, I guess we'll see who is ready to take their interest to the next level.
If you, or someone you know, is interested in Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., please have them get in contact with Brother Michael Render.
