Today is the big day. After months of planning, the Smithfield Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. will host the Sandhills Founder's Day Celebration and An All Blakk Affair in Clayton, NC.
This is going to be huge and I'm excited to see how it turns out.
Looking at the clock (10:45 am), I see that I have a couple of hours to get ready. The chapter members are going to arrive in the building a few hours early in an effort to set up and prepare for our guests.
I have to tell you, I'm a bit nervous. For starters, we're going to have the Middle Eastern Province Polemarch, Carlos Watson, Esq., in the house along with a number of other high profile guests. With so many etiquette and protocol things to remember, will we have them all covered? Will there be enough people to consider the event a success? Have we packed everything? Have I practiced the introduction enough? Questions, questions, questions.
Don't get me wrong, I'm confident that both events will be fine. I have the right brothers working on the project and, if nothing else, the place is going to look amazing and we'll have fun hosting frat from across the province. In the end, that is what the whole thing is about anyway...having fun and building brotherhood.
In preparation for tonight, I pulled out the black charcoal suit, which will afford me the opportunity to wear both the red/white and all black ties.
Doing the Superman transformation will only require changing my tie and handkerchief.
In addition, I'm gonna have to whip out my iron and press the outfit for a crisp look. Then, I'll need to shine my shoes, consider an edge up around my afro, and charge the camera batteries for a full night of pictures.
Well, with so much to do, let me get off my duff and get going. I'll let you know how it goes, but if you're in the area feel free to attend.
Until next time...
