Have you ever accidentally deleted a contact? Maybe you meant to delete them from your contact list, but realized weeks later that you still need them. Maybe you lost data during a recent merge. Well, thanks to a recent Gmail Blog announcement, you can retrieve deleted contacts from within Gmail. Pretty cool, huh?
Unfortunately, this window of opportunity has limitations. According to the pop-up box (see above), you have only 30 days to restore your contact list to a previous state.
How Does It Work?
To restore your contact list, do the following:
- Open Gmail
- Click on the 'Contacts' button
- Click on the 'More actions' button
- Select 'Restore contacts...' from the menu
- Select a time from the available options
- Click on the 'Restore' button
This is a neat little safety feature that ought to come in handy. As we continue to merge and clean our contact lists, the potential for losing data is quite possible. Good job, Gmail Team!
What do you think about this tool? Would you use it? What other Gmail features would you like to see released. Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
