Earlier today, I decided to test Blogger's e-mail feature. As explained to me, I should be able to send a blog post to Blogger through my mobile e-mail. Yes, it worked, but not as I expected. Let me explain.
The idea of sending blog posts while away from my computer is appealing. It means that I can capture many of the small things that take place during the day. I kept thinking that many small updates is better than waiting for really large posts. Right?
The steps I took were simple:
- Create custom e-mail: a secret address that allows authorized persons to post. Since we're talking about me, I am the only one who should know this address.
- Create the title: In the subject line of the e-mail, I'm using Gmail, I created my title.
- Create post: In the body of the e-mail, I wrote out a simple message. Once submitted, this would later become the meat of my article.
- Publish: The final step is to send the message. Based upon the setting in Blogger, I can either publish immediately or save it as a draft. I chose the former.
Additionally, the wanted line breaks between paragraphs were not present. This presented a problem when everything became one huge block of text.
Looking forward, I'm not certain this, or the SMS feature, are quite up to par. At the very least, it's probably best for capturing ideas as drafts and then editing them later.
